To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Jennifer Alvidrez, and I was member of the Spa Fitness and Wellness Center from January 2013-June 2015. My husband got me the membership as a Christmas present and as a way to keep me active during his deployment that lasted most of 2013. As a new member, I was able to do a 3 session trial with a trainer.
For some history, I used to be in Army, but was medically discharged to a very limiting hip injury. I had also torn up my knee, and got pregnant right after. A few months post-partum, I had reconstructive surgery on my knee. All of these injuries and life circumstances had led to me gaining just over 50lbs. I had lost about 20 of it on my own, but was struggling with body image, self-esteem, and health issues still. I knew I needed a drastic change before I went down the path of unhealthy living that most of my family seemed to be on.
I liked Michael Neighbors from the first session I had with him. He made me feel comfortable and confident that I would be successful. With the workouts, he was constantly changing them-challenging me with harder weights or more difficult exercises as I started to see changes in my body and ability. He helped me change the way I eat, which has done more for me than any exercise I have done. He taught me about the right fuel for my body and how to time my food with my exercise to see great results. During 2013, I lost 15 pounds, which didn’t seem like much, but went down 4 sizes!! My body looked completely different and needless to say, my husband was shocked when he came home from deployment.
I spent most of 2014 pregnant, but continued training with Mike so I wouldn’t have a drastic weight gain like I had with my first pregnancy. He was amazing at modifying my plan throughout the pregnancy to keep me fit, but also safe. I was so thankful to have one of those belly only pregnancies, and thanks to Mike, I bounced right back to pre-pregnancy weight only 3 months after having my baby.
Michael Neighbors went above and beyond for me as a trainer. He was always there to give a supporting word during the trials of having a spouse deployed. When I set a goal to run a 10K just 3 months after giving birth, he showed up and ran right alongside me, despite not being much of a runner. Since PCSing to Fort Irwin, Michael has checked in on me and kept up with my progress. I consider him a lifelong friend. The knowledge about diet and exercise that he gave me has enabled me to continue my journey at my next duty station. I have lost another 10 lbs and am now at my Army weight and size-something I never thought possible that first day I sat in his office.
I am truly grateful for meeting Michael Neighbors. He is such an amazing trainer, encourager, and friend. Anyone who crosses paths with him, be it personally or professionally, will be blessed greatly.
I met Mike when I was 8 months postpartum and looking for a change in my current workouts. We came up with a plan and started training for my 1st Bikini Competition. He helped me with my workouts and nutrition but was always available for anything I may need leading to show day. Now, your years later Mike is still my coach. We have gone through another pregnancy, diet restrictions, health issues, covid lockdowns and three shows together. Mike has been there to modify any programs and works with any goals you have personally. I couldn't recommend Mike enough, and I feel lucky to have him as a coach! Adrian Intile
